KaleidoSwap Demonstrates RGB on Liquid via Simplicity

KaleidoSwap, a member of the RGB Protocol on Bitcoin ecosystem, has demonstrated that native RGB assets can operate directly on Liquid, Blockstream’s Bitcoin sidechain, without bridges or custodians. The two networks already share enough of their underlying technical foundation to make this possible with minimal changes.

KaleidoSwap issued a test asset on Liquid end-to-end, then executed a custodian-free swap between an RGB asset on Bitcoin and an RGB asset on Liquid. The two sides of the exchange are locked together so that either both settle, or neither does, removing the counterparty risk that cross-chain transfers normally require a trusted intermediary to manage.

This guarantee is enforced by Simplicity, Liquid’s smart contract language, live on Liquid mainnet since July 2025: the Liquid network itself checks that every relevant transaction carries a valid RGB commitment, rather than relying on wallet software alone to enforce the rule.

The change has been proposed for inclusion in the official RGB codebase and is currently under review.

Utexo Ships Lightning in the Browser

Utexo has added Lightning support to its browser SDK, enabling users to open channels, move BTC and RGB assets, and receive payments even while offline, from a full node running inside a single browser tab, self-custodial and open source.

This set of operations is made possible by running a complete Lightning node directly inside the browser, rather than relying on a separate server or app. Users keep full control of their funds throughout, and can back up their wallet safely, either to a local file or to an encrypted cloud backup, recoverable at any time from their recovery phrase alone. The same underlying technology also powers Utexo’s mobile app, keeping the experience consistent across platforms.

Bitfinex on USDt-on-RGB

Bitfinex has published its own analysis of whether a USDt launch on RGB Protocol on Bitcoin could accelerate adoption. The article compares RGB’s client-side validation model to Omni Layer’s on-chain approach, and includes comments from Paolo Ardoino (Bitfinex CTO / Tether CEO), who described RGB as “the best opportunity” for issuing stablecoins on Bitcoin, and from Utexo co-founder Viktor Ihnatiuk on the timing of a USDt launch on RGB.
