The Association
Who we are
RGB Protocol Association was founded in July 2025 in Switzerland as a non-profit Association under Articles 60–79 of the Swiss Civil Code. It was created to provide institutional support for RGB Protocol on Bitcoin and the broader ecosystem of open-source projects building on it.
The Association is composed of corporate members — companies, organizations, and engineering teams active in the Bitcoin and RGB ecosystem. Strategic direction is set by a board elected by the General Assembly of members.
We do not maintain or develop the RGB protocol. We support those who do.

Our role
What we do
Three pillars define how the Association supports RGB Protocol on Bitcoin.
01
Ecosystem
We back independent developers, engineering teams, and infrastructure projects building on RGB Protocol on Bitcoin. This includes wallets, libraries, node implementations, and tooling that expand what is possible to build on the protocol.
We work with builders across the open-source community — those already shipping production-grade work, and those bringing new ideas and technical proposals to the ecosystem.
02
Community
We organize and sponsor events, workshops, meetups, and conferences that bring together developers, researchers, and builders working on RGB and adjacent open-source systems on Bitcoin.
These activities exist online and in person — from technical gatherings to international conferences — with the aim of strengthening the connections that hold the ecosystem together.
03
Education
We promote educational initiatives, hackathons, and learning programs that introduce developers and builders to RGB Protocol on Bitcoin. The goal is to lower the entry barrier and grow the next generation of contributors to the ecosystem.
This includes technical workshops, in-person and online hackathons, and partnerships with educational platforms that cover Bitcoin development at large.

Important
What we are not
RGB Protocol on Bitcoin is open-source software. Like any open-source protocol, it belongs to no one. Anyone can read the code, propose changes, build on top of it, or contribute independently.
The Association does not develop the protocol — that work is done by the rgb-protocol team. The Association does not govern the protocol — open-source software has no central authority. We exist to support the ecosystem with community work, educational initiatives, and infrastructure for the people building on RGB Protocol on Bitcoin, and we encourage every developer to contribute on their own terms.
