RGB Protocol Association congratulates Utexo on shipping RGB Lightning support inside Tether’s Wallet Development Kit (WDK), a milestone that brings RGB Protocol on Bitcoin’s stablecoin infrastructure one step closer to production.

In Brief

  • Utexo has shipped RGB Lightning support for Tether’s Wallet Development Kit (WDK), announced directly from Tether’s own WDK account
  • The milestone completes RGB support inside WDK: on-chain support has been available since February 2026, and Lightning now joins it — any wallet built on WDK can move RGB assets instantly, without its developers building that capability themselves
  • It marks a concrete step toward RGB assets, including the ones expected to carry USDT on Bitcoin, moving at Lightning speed inside any WDK wallet

What Was Announced?

RGB Protocol Association supports the development and adoption of RGB Protocol on Bitcoin, and is glad to see Utexo reach this milestone. Utexo built RGB Lightning support for Tether’s Wallet Development Kit, and Tether’s own WDK account announced it directly on X. The integration lets any wallet built on WDK move RGB assets over the Lightning Network, instantly and with minimal fees, without its developers building that capability from scratch.

This is not Utexo’s first RGB integration in WDK. In February 2026, Utexo added support for issuing RGB assets on-chain; this new module completes the picture with the Lightning part. Together, the two pieces create the basic infrastructure for any WDK wallet to issue RGB assets on-chain and move them at Lightning speed.

It’s a concrete step toward the kind of infrastructure that will carry USDT on Bitcoin.
