RGB Protocol Association Is Born: A Global Effort to Power Bitcoin’s Future

Lugano, Switzerland, July 14th 2025

The RGB Protocol Association was founded in July 2025 as a Swiss-based non-profit dedicated to supporting the development and adoption of RGB Protocol on Bitcoin.

RGB is a client-side validated, off-chain protocol. It enables asset tokenization natively on Bitcoin and the Lightning Network. Importantly, it does so while preserving Bitcoin’s core principles of scalability, privacy, and auditability. As a result, users can create, transfer, and interact with digital assets without bloating the Bitcoin blockchain. Validation happens deterministically on the user’s device.

The RGB Protocol Association aims to accelerate the development of the RGB ecosystem. It provides financial and strategic support to developers, teams, and projects building with RGB. Additionally, the Association offers grants, sponsorships, educational initiatives, and technical collaboration. In particular, these programs empower innovation in Bitcoin-native DeFi, tokenization, digital identity, and private smart contracts.

The Association will operate as a neutral, non-commercial entity and welcomes participation from individuals and organizations that share the vision of decentralized infrastructure built on Bitcoin.

It brings together a diverse set of founding members from across the Bitcoin ecosystem who share the vision of a scalable, privacy-preserving future built on RGB.
