RGB Protocol Association Is Born: A Global Effort to Power Bitcoin’s Future

Lugano, Switzerland, July 14th 2025 -

The RGB Protocol Association launches today as a non-profit organization based in Switzerland, created to support the development and adoption of the RGB protocol.

RGB is a client-side validated and off-chain protocol that enables asset tokenization natively on Bitcoin and Lightning Network, while preserving Bitcoin’s core principles of scalability, privacy, and auditability. It allows users to create, transfer, and interact with digital assets and contractual logic without bloating the Bitcoin blockchain, leveraging deterministic validation directly on the user’s device.

The RGB Protocol Association aims to accelerate the development of the RGB ecosystem by providing financial and strategic support to developers, teams, and projects building with RGB. Through grants, sponsorships, educational initiatives and technical collaboration, the Association seeks to empower innovation in areas such as Bitcoin-native DeFi, tokenization, digital identity, and private smart contracts.

The RGB Protocol Association will operate as a neutral, non-commercial entity and welcomes participation from individuals and organizations that share the vision of decentralized infrastructure built on Bitcoin.

The RGB Protocol Association brings together a diverse set of founding members from across the Bitcoin ecosystem who share the vision of a scalable, privacy-preserving future built on RGB.
